Nevertheless, the bar still came out wonderfully: the crust was crisp and its sugar content made up for the lack of sugar in the filling. My family enjoyed this recipe and it was so easy to put together. My sister and I worked on it together. She put the fruit together and I did the dough. While it was baking she later confessed she forgot to put the sugar and cornstarch in the fruit🤣. Nevertheless, the bar still came out wonderfully: the crust was crisp and its sugar content made up for the lack of sugar in the filling. Also, the blackberries were on the sweet side which I imagined helped with the balance of sweet to slightly tart in the pie.

I made these yesterday with fresh blackberries. This recipe turned out great as written, and so tasty, especially with a little ice cream. I’ll be making more since backberry season is here. Thanks for sharing this delicious recipe.

Great recipe that worked to perfection! I don’t have a food processor but my skills with a a Kitchen Aid got me through the dough process using the discriptions included. My family loved this treat!

These blackberry pie bars are delicious. I have wild blackberries and enjoy finding new recipes to use during blackberry season. I did make a glaze to go on top of the bars, but they are just as delightful without it! Other than the addition of a glaze, I followed the recipe exactly as written.

Hi Patty! You could absolutely halve this recipe and bake it in an 8×8 inch pan. Just watch the baking time as they will bake in a shorter amount of time!

Hi Angela, frozen berries will work if you let them thaw before and just pat dry any excess water! I let them thaw on a paper towel on the counter in an even layer. It helps keep them from getting soggy.
