Yes, store it in the crockpot in the fridge covered. Then let it sit for about 30 minutes on the counter before turning on the crockpot. If the crockpot is too cold and gets hot too quickly, there’s a chance it can crack!

Hi Paige, the butter adds flavor and helps keep the ham moist. But if you have to skip it, you could go with something like pineapple juice!

This was the best spiral hand I have ever made. It’s the first time cooking in a crockpot versus an oven or barbeque from now on it will only be in a crockpot with this recipe..

I pulled it off for the photos so you could see the actual ham, but we serve our ham with the pineapple! It’s a delicious combination, but you can also discard the pineapple if you aren’t a fan of the fruit itself.

You can use any type of ham! A spiral ham just works well to get all the flavor and juices down into the ham as it cooks.

Do you have to use a spiral ham?

Strange question. Where is the pineapple put on top of ham? None of the pictures show the pineapple on top after it is cooked. Is it removed and what is done with it?

Hi Wanda! Honestly, I’d probably leave the recipe just as it is. A little extra juice/sauce is never a bad thing to me! However, you could get away with halving it if you would like!
